Nikon disqualifies first-place microscopy video for generative AI use

On October 9, PetaPixel reported that the microscopy video awarded first place in Nikon's Small World in Motion had been disqualified for failing to comply with rules concerning generative AI. A Nikon spokesperson said the rankings were changed after reevaluating the footage and related materials and consulting the judges.

According to the report, the new first-place winner is Nguyen Nam Nhat's footage of nematodes and single-celled organisms. Nikon also said the decision concerns the entry's eligibility under the rules, not an assessment of the entrant's professional standing or intent.

Runway Dev's Eleven v4 introductory pricing runs through October 12 PT

Runway Dev's official changelog says it added the speech generation model Eleven v4 on September 30. Scripts can include audio tags for laughter, whispering, pauses, and other expressions, with input up to 2,500 characters. This article checks the introductory pricing deadline rather than reporting a new model release.

Pricing is listed at 2.2 credits per 1,000 characters through October 12 in US Pacific Time (PT), then five credits. The minimum charge is one credit. Because this changelog does not give an exact switchover time, we do not interpret it as switching at midnight on October 12 in Japan.

Higgsfield Ad Multiplier generates new versions from a reference ad

In its October 6 official changelog, Higgsfield described using Ad Multiplier through its interface. Users upload a reference ad video and their own assets, then change products, people, locations, scripts, opening hooks, and closing calls to action while retaining the structure.

Reference videos can be 4–30 seconds, with up to 20 images. Listed outputs are 480p, 720p, and 1080p. The company says openings and closing messages can be tested without uploading the same reference again. This is a production feature not previously covered, rather than a new announcement on October 11.
